Whether you’re a recurring volunteer, a new volunteer, or just beginning to learn about Samaritas’ work and ways to get involved, we’re excited that you are here!
On this website, you will see statewide volunteer and in-kind donation opportunities. Below are answers to common questions you may have while navigating this site and these opportunities. If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Pam.Debono@samaritas.org.
How do I sign up to follow a specific program?
Some of our programs, such as our New Americans Programs (Refugee Resettlement), coordinate a large number of volunteers. For that reason, volunteers interested in working specifically with New Americans should sign up under their local New Americans program.
When you hit “Sign Up” on Amplify, you will immediately see a drop-down menu listing different programs. You can select the program you want to volunteer with here. This will curate the following questions and documents, ensuring they meet that specific program’s qualifications.
If you are not volunteering for one of the New Americans Programs, please select “General Volunteers”.
What are your volunteer requirements?
Volunteer requirements vary by program. Most programs require only a background check. Some programs require a more detailed onboarding process, including multiple background checks and training. Some programs do not require a background check at all. You can reach out to the listed contact of that program (listed on their program’s page) to learn about that program’s requirements.
ALL regular (recurring) volunteers should receive a copy of our Volunteer Handbook, which they agree to. You can access the Volunteer Handbook here.
ALL non-regular volunteers should receive and sign a waiver either before or on the day of their volunteering opportunity. You can view the Waiver here (only the first page is required).
Can I view only opportunities near me or filter specific opportunities?
Yes you can! Under the “Opportunities” tab (found to the left of your screen) you will have different options to filter the opportunities you view. At the top of the page, underneath the “Opportunities” heading, you can click “Use my location to show opportunities near me” and choose how many miles out you would like to view.
You can also filter opportunities based on program, skillset, wheelchair accessibility, and more.
I want to provide a service/donation that I don’t see listed. Is that possible? Absolutely!
