Volunteer: Help Refugee Families Get Donated Food!Every Thursday morning, ACC Food Pantry provides donated food available to those in need, including our refugee clients. Deliveries happen on a weekly basis, but signing up to help does not mean you have to deliver every week. Volunteers can sign up based on their availability and can choose how many and which clients they would like to deliver to from a list sent out each week. Most clients are located in Macomb and Wayne County. As one of the largest refugee resettlement agencies in the state, Samaritas has resettled thousands of people from dozens of countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Central and South America. Samaritas has been the Michigan affiliate of Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service since the 1950s. Volunteer: Bicycles Needed for RefugeesWe are looking for bicycles that are in good working condition as donations that we can pass along to our refugee clients. We are in need of adult bikes, as many of our adult refugees bike to work as a more timely and dependable mode of transportation compared to walking or taking the bus. This can be the best mode of transportation while they are in the process of getting a drivers license, which can take up to two years! We are also in need of kids bikes, since many of our refugee kids bike to school, and use it as a great way to exercise during the summer. If you have a bike that you would like to donate (tax deductibly!) to a great cause, please reach out!
