Who We Are
Legacy Adoption Service is a jointly owned subsidiary corporation of Samaritas (formerly Lutheran Social Services of Michigan) and Wellspring Lutheran Services (formerly Lutheran Child and Family Services of Michigan). Both agencies handled adoptions individually in Michigan for many years. In 1977, the agencies agreed to join forces in order to provide more loving, forever homes for children in foster care who needed permanent placement.
What We Do
Some 2,500 children in Michigan yearn for their “forever family” right now. And we know there are many parents who want to grow their families who do not know how to adopt a child in Michigan or about Michigan foster to adopt programs. We can help. Matching kids for adoption in Michigan with loving families is part of our mission and is work that gives us great joy.
Through Samaritas’s Adoption program - Legacy Adoption Services - you can help kids up for adoption in Michigan find a “lifelong loving family.” Every child needs love, shelter and guidance. These most basic of provisions are missing for some children, and the older the child, the more dire the circumstances, especially when they come from an abusive or neglectful situation. Our Michigan foster to adopt program helps pair children available for adoption in Michigan with loving homes where they will thrive.
